A Word With You

The threads of time and space
have woven us anew
my fingers fashion fragile knots
as word becomes web, and web becomes you

Here in my hands lies the fabric
thought to dream, so dream to art
—that a delicate tug of the string
might move your heart

Damn It, Jim, I'm a Doctor, not a Feminist

The original Star Trek sure is sexist. I saw this one recently where a woman became the embittered antagonist of the episode because women aren't allowed to command a star ship. Really? It's the 23rd century, and women still can't command a ship? Talk about a lack of vision on the writers' part. Humans can fly across the universe and meet numerous alien species, but still all women are good for is serving coffee on the bridge and falling in love. Except for Uhura. And even she is wearing a miniskirt. Gggrrrrrrrrr......

Today's Alphabet

Today we heard songs from the new Beck and Silver Jews albums. I have not listened to either much but I'm about to!

Here's the playlist from today's show.

My show time is going to change in a few weeks. Hopefully it'll be Friday mornings from 7-8 a.m. Grigsby (of Time Out for Fun) and I are gonna take turns.

I'm going to the festival!

There is a nice mention in the Humanities Tennessee July/August newsletter about Wealtheow. The article focuses on new authors who will be participating in the Southern Festival of Books:

"Ashley Crownover is a Nashville writer whose debut novel, Wealtheow: Her Telling of Beowulf, explores the Beowulf story from the female perspective. Crownover's novel has received strong praise from critics who appreciate her storytelling prowess as well as her ability to enlarge the female characters in the story."

Yargh

This doesn't look that good, but I'm working on it. It's a dang miracle I even figured out how to import my Blogger blog into the website.
